1. Who we are
The data controller for Pingee (pingee.online) is Pingee, The Old Hangar, Elton Road, Peterborough PE8 6NE, United Kingdom. Contact us about privacy at hello@pingee.online.
2. What personal data we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and a securely hashed password, your chosen plan, your time zone, and whether your email is verified.
- Alert recipients: email addresses you add to receive alerts, and whether each has confirmed.
- Monitoring data: the websites and domains you add, their friendly names, and the results of our checks (status, response time, SSL details, DNS records, incidents). This is mostly information about websites rather than people, but may include personal data if a domain or email address identifies someone.
- Billing data: Stripe gives us a customer reference, your plan and subscription status. We do not receive or store your card number.
- Technical data: your IP address and basic request details, used for security, rate-limiting and keeping the free homepage check from being abused. Email delivery records may also be kept by our email provider.
- Messages: anything you send us when you contact support.
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To create your account, run the checks, and send alerts and service emails: contract (providing the service you asked for).
- To take payment and keep financial records: contract and legal obligation.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and fix problems: legitimate interests.
- To respond to your questions: legitimate interests and contract.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it. We do not send marketing emails unless you separately agree to them.
4. Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run Pingee, only for the purposes described here:
- Hosting: MyHostingSpace (UK) hosts the website and database.
- Payments: Stripe, which processes payments and acts as an independent controller for payment and fraud-prevention data.
- Email delivery: our email delivery provider, which sends our emails on our behalf.
We may also disclose data where required by law. Some providers (such as Stripe) may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
5. How long we keep it
- Detailed check results are kept for about 35 days, then deleted automatically. Incident history is kept while your website remains in your account.
- Your account and websites are kept until you delete them. When you delete your account, we delete your websites, monitoring history, alert recipients and account details, and cancel your subscription.
- Billing and accounting records are kept for the period the law requires (generally six years).
- Security and email logs are kept for a limited period, normally no more than 90 days.
6. Cookies
We only use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, such as the cookie that keeps you logged in after you sign in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
7. Security
Passwords are stored hashed, payments are handled by Stripe, and access to your websites’ data is restricted to your account. No system is perfectly secure; if there is a breach that puts your rights at risk we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable format. Many of these can be done in your account; for the rest email hello@pingee.online. We will reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113, although we would appreciate the chance to help first.
9. Children
Pingee is for people aged 18 and over and is not intended for children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date. For significant changes we will tell you by email or in your account.
